Only a few months after Mercedes-AMG grabbed attention with its extreme electric GT 4-Door, the brand is preparing to launch another high-performance EV—this time in SUV form and without a combustion engine.
Mercedes-AMG has been developing the electric SUV for more than two years, and the model is now expected to make its debut on October 17 at a special 140th anniversary event held at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. Production is set to begin later this year, with customer deliveries following in early 2027.
Teaser images released by Mercedes-AMG have already offered a preview of the upcoming model. While few current Mercedes-Benz vehicles could be described as conventionally beautiful, the new AMG SUV appears likely to be just as polarizing. It should, at the very least, stand out.

A huge grille inspired by the GT 4-Door will dominate the front end, joined by distinctive LED daytime running lights, a sculpted bumper, and a coupe-like SUV profile. Teasers published last month showed the rear featuring two small circular LEDs along with star-shaped graphics.
Whatever its final appearance, the new Mercedes-AMG SUV should be impossible to overlook once its performance figures are revealed.
Hypercar-level power

The flagship model is expected to use a 106 kWh battery and three advanced axial-flux motors. Combined output should match the sedan at 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft (2,000 Nm) of torque. That would enable an estimated 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of about 2.5 seconds, beating the Lucid Gravity GT-S, which takes more than 3 seconds to reach the same speed.
Mercedes-AMG is also expected to offer less extreme versions for buyers who do not need hypercar-level performance. These are believed to include a roughly 536-hp GT 53 and a mid-range GT 55 producing approximately 805 hp.
